Quality of research
University of East Anglia is one of Britain’s premier research and teaching universities and is committed to achieving international standards of excellence. The quality of its research work has earned it a reputation as one of the top research universities in the UK.
Eleven of the University’s research units were graded internationally excellent in the last Government-sponsored Research Assessment Exercise. The University also carries out a substantial amount of work for government departments, industry and charities.
University of East Anglia students benefit, therefore, from the latest knowledge and thinking, taught by staff at the forefront of their disciplines.
The University has established numerous centres to develop particular areas of expertise. These include the Arthur Miller Centre for American Studies, the ERSC Centre for Competition Policy, the Centre for Research on the Child and Family and the Climatic Research Unit, a recognised world authority on global climate change.
A large proportion of the University’s funding is provided by the UK Research Councils and the European Union.
