Information technology and computing
Confidence when using computers will help students to make the most out of their studies. The University has a specialist IT library and tutorial guides to help students develop IT skills at their own pace.
All students are given a ‘survival guide’ including all the information they need to get started using the University’s extensive IT facilities located in the library and across campus.
The University also offers:
-
free internet access, a personal email address and wireless and cabled access to a high-speed data network connecting the whole university (students are able to connect to the network from external locations);
-
software applications from word processing to advanced statistical and mathematical packages;
-
helpdesks providing advice and support with both hardware and software problems;
-
specialist equipment area with scanners, assistive technology e.g. large screens, ergonomic keyboards and roller-ball mice.
