Introductory English course for ERASMUS students

8-16 September 2008

If you are an ERASMUS student who has been accepted to study at the University of East Anglia for one or two semesters, you may be interested in this seven-day course. It will give you an opportunity to familiarise yourself with your new surroundings, improve your English and get to know other students in the same situation as yourself before the busy Autumn semester begins.

Content
On your first day you will be given a diagnostic test which will enable us to identify and help you improve your weak areas. This course will focus on:

• academic writing - Some principles behind the type of writing expected in the Arts
  and Science Schools.
• grammar - An analysis of individual weak points based on the diagnostic test,
and practice of these in group work and role-play.
• oral communication skills - Presentation strategies in preparation for coping with
  seminars at the University.
• vocabulary development - An examination of the different written and spoken styles of
   English.
• tutorials - Individual tutorials to discuss your language progress and any concerns
   you have.

The University of East Anglia is the most beautiful campus I have ever seen. INTO classes are very interesting and the teachers are all very friendly. Norwich is quiet, and clean, so studying here makes me feel very comfortable.
