Assessment

Assessment is both formal and informal, designed not simply to pass or fail students, but to help them build on their successes and meet the requirements for entry to the second year of a degree. Marks from the Diploma programme do not count towards the final degree but they help the university assess students’ abilities for their chosen field of study.

Students are assessed by a combination of examination and coursework which might include essays, reports, field notebooks, creative writing, practical exercises, group and individual research projects, portfolios, bibliographical searches, oral and video presentations, subject quizzes, seminar skills, class tests and problem solving exercises.
