Core Modules

The development of core skills accounts for approximately 50% of class hours per week. Core modules are focussed on the basic elements:
• reading;
• grammar;
• speaking;
• listening and comprehension;
• writing skills;
• vocabulary;
• study skills.

Of the remaining 50% of class hours, one half focuses on academic English and study skills modules including:
• general essay writing;
• oral presentations;
• discussions;
• academic reading and critical
  analysis of text;
• summarising and interpreting;
• research and library skills;
• computer skills development.

IELTS Preparation Units

The development of core skills accounts for approximately  50% of class hours per week. Of the remaining 50% of class hours, one half focuses on academic English and study skills, and the other half focuses on IELTS preparation and the acquisition of:
• strategies for dealing with IELTS techniques for reading and listening;
• dealing with specific IELTS-related writing tasks;
• regular speaking/interview practice;
• development of vocabulary in the context of typical IELTS test themes;
• regular IELTS test practice.
