Course Content
This course focuses on academic English and study skills appropriate for postgraduate students, in particular the following:
- essay writing based on authentic academic texts, providing practice in supporting and structuring essays;
- lectures and authentic academic recordings to develop skills in following academic speech and taking notes on it;
- preparation of and practice in selfresearched presentations;
- experience of the IT facilities offered by the University, including the library research facilities;
- reading of extended academic texts, focusing on improving the speed of students’ general understanding and recognition of relevance.
All students are subject to continual internal assessment to ensure they have reached the appropriate level for their degree study.
