British culture

The UK has an extraordinary history and has for centuries been a significant influence in global development. It has one of the most cosmopolitan cultures – open-minded and welcoming to visitors, including over 300,000 international students.

You have heard of many great British stars of music, sport and film from the Arctic Monkeys to David Beckham and Keira Knightley. Studying in the UK is your opportunity to become immersed in the same culture that produced these global icons.

There are great cities all over the UK, each with theatres, clubs, sporting venues, great shopping and of course famous universities. Many also have financial centres, industrial zones, leading technology and scientific developments.

Each city is never far from beautiful countryside or dramatic coast, and there is an excellent transport system for flying, driving or travelling by train within the UK or to Europe and beyond.

The Postgraduate Foundation course [now Pre-Master’s programme] helped me in the way it introduced the environment of my postgraduate studies. It enabled me to gradually adjust myself to the postgraduate modules and lectures. You could say that the course successfully bridged my two academically different stages (undergraduate and postgraduate) and stylistically different states (national and international).
