Glasgow has made it onto the Lonely Planet guides list of the top ten cities of the world.
This will have come as no surprise to Glaswegians or to the two million tourists who visit Glasgow every year to enjoy the wealth of culture and leisure activities the city has to offer.

Lonely Planet Travel Editor Tom Hall said: " The time has come for Lonely Planet to let one of its worst-kept secrets out: Glasgow's got everything."

Glasgow was the only UK city to feature in the list, which appears in the Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2009 publication.
