The campus
The University campus is located within easy reach of the city centre which is practically on the doorstep. It is close to a metro station for easy access to other areas of the city and is also close to green open spaces.
In order to make each student’s stay a fulfilling experience, the campus offers many of its own facilities: a range of cafes for all tastes, a shop and post office, all in the Union building; a print shop and travel agent; a student-run minibus service and a student advice centre.
The University library is proud of its facilities. It offers over a million volumes, 5,000 periodicals, 200 networked computers as well as laptop docking stations and wireless hotspots. Information Systems and Services provide excellent computing facilities across the campus and offer support to students wanting to develop their skills.
There is an active musical and cultural life in the University which also has close links to the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and the Sage Gateshead music centre. Sports are also an important part of student life and the University boasts an impressive £5.5m sports centre.
