Quality of teaching

The University has an excellent reputation for the high quality of teaching, as confirmed by the University’s performance in the national quality awards, as well as independent student surveys.

In the government’s 2005 Quality Assurance Agency audit, the University was commended for their focus on supporting and guiding students throughout their academic studies, whilst in previous subject-specific reviews Newcastle achieved an excellent average of 22 out of 24 for all subjects assessed. Similarly in the 2007 National Student Survey, 82 per cent of participating students confirmed that they were satisfied with their experience at Newcastle University, which is higher than the national average.

Newcastle University fully understands that students learn in different ways. Though lectures and tutorials adopt the more traditional style of learning, the University has also developed innovative methods for teaching, including e-learning, employer involvement and overseas study.

I decided to study an English language course with INTO as it would improve my confidence. Through team work exercises i have been able to identify my weakness, and using the option classes, i can focus on these areas and work with my teachers to improve upon them.
