English Language Materials Online (ELMO)

The only one of its kind in the UK, ELMO is an innovative, multi-media, self-studywebsite designed specifically to help nonnative speakers develop their skills in English for Academic Purposes. Through this online resource, students can not only improve their capability in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar, but also acquire the necessary skills to be successful in independent, autonomous study.

E-learning and computing facilities

All students have access to the University’s excellent computer services. Upon arrival students are provided with a personal University e-mail address, and can access the internet through the 1,400 fully networked computers and wireless hotspots available throughout the campus. As well as being able to offer great computing facilities, the University also provides support for students who wish to develop their IT skills.

To supplement face-to-face teaching, students have access to web-based support via the virtual learning environment, through which they can access reading lists and other degree information directly, take part in online discussions and email their academic tutors.

There are lots of additional resources at the Unviersity to help our learning.  I really enjoy using the Open Access Centre, as we can independently improve our English language skills. Using the computer software, i have been able to really improve my reading, listening and writing skills in my own time.
