University library service
The University recognises the importance of continual investment in its teaching, learning and research services, many of which have won awards for excellence. The University has invested over £7.5 million upgrading teaching and learning facilities such as the Bedson Teaching Centre and the £2.2 million Research Beehive. The effect that this investment has had on the student experience was confirmed by the results of the National Student Survey, where feedback from our students placed Newcastle in the top eight institutions for the provision of learning resources, including the library and computing services. We also have a £160 million capital investment plan for improvements over the next few years.Newcastle University is the only library in the UK to have been awarded the government’s coveted Charter Mark for excellent customer services four times in a row.
The Award recognises the high-quality learning environment available to all students. The University’s Library Service, which comprises the main Robinson Library, the Walton Library and the Law Library, provides students with an invaluable collection of resources to support them during their academic study. Some academic schools also hold specialised book collections, which supplement the University’s main resources.
