24 hour support
INTO is dedicated to ensuring that all of our students feel totally safe and supported. Upon arrival all INTO Newcastle University students are issued with an emergency telephone number which can be used to ask for assistance from INTO staff at any time of the day or night. Within the University Residences, there are Senior Residents, who are responsible for the pastoral care of students living in dedicated INTO University accommodation and provide an additional source of 24-hour support.Student Services team
The student services team, who are based at the Centre, will be the first point of contact for our students and will help them with any nonacademic issues, ranging from registering with the police and a doctor through to setting up a bank account. The Student Services team are also responsible for the orientation programme, and the on-going social programme.Language Advisers
At the Centre, there are also a number of full-time and part-time language advisers, who speak a range of languages including Chinese, Russian and Arabic, and are available to assist new and prospective students and parents, who may not be able to communicate effectively in English.Guardianship
Any student under the age of 18 who is coming to study in the UK must have a UK-based guardian, who can act on behalf of the parent for the student in certain circumstances, such as in the case of a medical emergency when a student might not be able to make the decision for him/herself. As part of INTO care, INTO will provide free of charge a basic Guardianship service for all students who are under the age of 18 at the start of their course.Support for students with disabilities
