Information for University students

As well as offering a wide range of pre-university English language courses, the INTO Centre also provides a number of key services for international students enrolled on a degree programme at Newcastle University. These include free English Language assessment upon arrival at the University and In-Sessional English classes throughout their studies. All students registered on a degree programme at Newcastle University can also access ELMO, a multi-media self study website that helps students to develop their skills in academic English.

Information for University staff

For University staff involved in the admission process, the INTO Centre can give advice and guidance on the University's English language policy for admissions, which English language tests are acceptable for direct entry to the University and how those alternative tests equate to IELTS or TOEFL

Once students have arrived at the University, as part of the registration process all international students are required to take the University English Language Assessment.  It is essential that all international students are actively encouraged to register for the test during Welcome Week so that they can benefit from the free In-Sessional English classes offered by INTO Newcastle University during the academic year.

The whole experience has provided me with a fantastic insight into university life in the UK.  It has provided me with a chance to improve my English whilst studying a degree subject at Newcastle University that i had no previously had the opportunity to study in my home country.
