Great days out

Shopping
With the main shopping area only a few hundred metres from the University, for students Newcastle is a shoppers’ paradise! There’s so much on offer with a mixture of designer outlets and independent stores, as well as major high streets shops. For fresh produce, the indoor Grainger Market (open six days a week) and the monthly Farmers’ markets, remain the best source of fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables in the city.

Out and about
A major attraction of the region is the fact that students have the benefits of living in a city, but are also surrounded by some of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside and coastline in the UK.

Northumberland is a county for outdoor pursuits. The National Park provides a natural adventure playground that can be explored leisurely by foot, on horseback or on one of the many cycle paths, while Kielder Water and the Tynemouth Long Sands are the ideal settings for water sports. There are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy the region’s history, with more castles than anywhere else in England, and the World Heritage sites of Hadrian’s Wall and Durham Cathedral and Castle, all within easy reach of the city.

Newcastle has a great location in the UK.  With its excellent transport links I have been able to visit other cities and learn even more about British culture.
