Assessment will be based on the University’s marking scale for undergraduate studies:

Assured university placement

Students who successfully complete the relevant Graduate Diploma programme at INTO Newcastle University, and meet the specified grades for entry to their selected degree programme, are guaranteed progression onto a number of designated postgraduate degree programmes at Newcastle University. Students are also able to apply to other universities in the UK.

What is successful completion?

In order to successfully progress onto their chosen postgraduate degree programme at Newcastle University, students will normally need to achieve at least an average mark of 50% over all academic modules. In addition, students will need to achieve a minimum of 65/70 (IELTS 6.5/7.0) in English for Academic Purposes (depending on which postgraduate programme students wish to study). Students may need to achieve minimum grades in specified modules depending on the postgraduate degree programme they select.

For details of the specified progression grades for entry to postgraduate degree programmes at Newcastle University, please contact the INTO Newcastle Centre. Newcastle University and INTO Newcastle University reserve the right to amend programme details in the light of changing circumstances and academic requirements. The programme is subject to final University approval.

Following successful completion of the relevant INTO Graduate Diploma (subject to meeting the specified grades for entry to their chosen degree programme), students will be eligible for direct entry to a wide variety of postgraduate degree programmes in the following subject areas:

  • Architecture

  • Communication
  • Heritage and Museum Studies
  • Geography, Politics and Sociology
  • Law
  • Computing Science-related subjects.
