What is the INTO Graduate Diploma programme?
The Graduate Diploma is a full-time academic programme that aims to prepare international students from various disciplines for postgraduate study on selected postgraduate taught courses (e.g. MA/MSc courses) within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering at Newcastle University.The Graduate Diploma will give students the opportunity to:
- improve their language skills in preparation for postgraduate study
- improve their understanding of key academic subjects
- develop the necessary research skills for postgraduate study.
Who should apply for the INTO Graduate Diploma programme?
The Graduate Diploma caters for a variety of international students. For students with a relevant background, who have not previously studied the discipline they intend to focus on in their MA/MSc programme, the Graduate Diploma provides a conversion course allowing entry to postgraduate study in the UK.International students who have a recognised undergraduate qualification, but who cannot demonstrate they have the required English and academic skills for direct entry to the MA/MSc programme at Newcastle University, are eligible to apply.
For mature students, who are looking to return to education after gaining a number of years’ work experience, the Graduate Diploma provides an appropriate pathway into postgraduate studies.
When can I start the INTO Graduate Diploma programme?
Students can enrol on the Graduate Diploma in September and January each year, with both intakes leading into the University’s September intake for postgraduate studies. For students starting the Graduate Diploma in September, the Diploma is a nine-month programme delivered across two academic semesters, running from September to June. Students enrolled on the January intake will cover the same programme content in an intensive seven-month programme and will complete their studies in August of the same year.What is special about the INTO Graduate Diploma programme?
