INTO Academic programmes

INTO Foundation programme

The Foundation programme is a pre-university course, designed to bridge the gap for international students between secondary school and undergraduates studies in the UK. The programme prepares students for direct entry to first-year undergraduate programmes at Newcastle University or other UK universities.

With four subject-specific pathways available, the Foundation programme prepares students for entry to a wide variety of subjects including degree programmes in Business, Law, Social Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, Natural Sciences and Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

The Foundation programme is validated by Newcastle University.  On successful completion, students are awarded the Newcastle University Foundation Certificate, which offers direct entry to a wide range of degree programmes at Newcastle University (subject to meeting specific academic and English language entry requirements), as well as preparing international students for undergraduate study at other top UK universities.

The INTO Foundation programme has two start dates (September and January) which both lead into the first year of an undergraduate degree programme. For further information, please go to  INTO Foundation programme

INTO Diploma programme

The Diploma programme is a full-time academic programme in Business, validated by Newcastle University, which is equivalent to studying the first year of an undergraduate degree.  The Diploma programme is quality assured and validated by Newcastle University. Successful completion (subject to meeting specified progression grades in academic and English language modules) offers students direct entry to the second year of a relevant undergraduate business degree at Newcastle University. Students can also apply for entry to similar degree programmes at other UK universities.

Students can enrol in September and January each year, with both intakes leading into the University’s September start date for undergraduate studies. For further information, please go to INTO Diploma programme

INTO Graduate Diploma programme

The Graduate Diploma programme is a full-time academic programme that is designed to offer international students who do not qualify for direct entry to the University a pathway into postgraduate studies at a British university. The programme offers two pathways and prepares students for a wide variety of postgraduate subjects including postgraduate degree programmes in Architecture and Planning Studies, Business, Cross-cultural Communication, Media Studies, Heritage and Museum Studies, Law, Geography, Politics and Sociology, and Computing Science-related subjects.

Successful completion of the Graduate Diploma programme leads to the award of the Newcastle University Graduate Diploma, which is a recognised qualification in the University’s Qualifications and Credit Framework. The Graduate Diploma is therefore a first step towards obtaining a postgraduate qualification.

Students can enrol on the Graduate Diploma in September and January each year, with both intakes leading into the University’s September intake for postgraduate studies. For further information, please go to INTO Graduate Diploma programme

Newcastle is an ideal city for me.  After growing up in a large and noisy city at home I was keen to study somewhere that was quieter.  With beautiful parks and scenery with a variety of wildlife, one of which I walk through on my way to university, Newcastle is just what I was looking for.
