Course outcomes

All students are internally tested in reading, writing, listening and speaking at the end of each term to give a clear indication of their progress. Students enrolled on a short-term course, which finishes prior to the end of term, will be provided with a report on their progress based on feedback from their teachers.

Assuming students have met the University’s academic entry requirements, successful study on the Academic English course offers:
  • direct entry to Newcastle University (without the need for another IELTS exam) or to another UK university
  • assured progression onto other higher-level INTO academic programmes and English language courses, including Foundation, Diploma, Graduate Diploma and Pre-Master’s English without the need for another IELTS exam.

There are lots of additional resources at the Unviersity to help our learning.  I really enjoy using the Open Access Centre, as we can independently improve our English language skills. Using the computer software, i have been able to really improve my reading, listening and writing skills in my own time.
