English language courses
To enter undergraduate or postgraduate degree courses in the UK, international students must satisfy English language requirements. The most successful students are those who take the time to improve their level of English language beyond standard entry requirements. Greater fluency in English means accelerated progress in class and course work. Experienced staff will guide students and help them progress effectively towards their academic studies.INTO Academic English
Students choose the INTO Academic English course to raise their level of English language to gain entry either to pre-university academic programmes offered at the INTO Centre, or to academic courses at leading universities in the UK. Students already holding a firm offer from the University of Manchester will undertake presessional work in the University’s international centre itself. Students who are academically qualified for postgraduate degree study at a British university can join the Academic English course to improve their English language level and prepare for their Master’s or other postgraduate degree course.
INTO Essential English

INTO Summer schools There are several different kinds of summer school, each prepared with differing student needs in mind, such as the Pre-Art and Design Foundation and Teacher Training courses. For students who want to improve their English language whilst having some fun, we recommend our Essential English Summer School. This course has 20 lessons of English per week but also includes two weekly excursions. Students who need to improve their IELTS score during the summer will especially benefit from our Academic English programme. This course has 24 lessons a week and most students on this course aim to enter academic programmes the following September.
INTO Pre-Art and Design Summer School
Our Pre-Art and Design Foundation Summer School is open to all students but is mainly for students who want to enter our Art and Design Foundation course in September but don’t yet have the portfolio required for entry. The course mixes English language study with studio workshop sessions and gives students the opportunity to improve their English and to prepare a small portfolio of creative work for direct entry into our Art and Design Foundation year.
