A welcome message from the Vice Chancellor
"Welcome to the INTO University of Exeter Centre. I am delighted to say that the University of Exeter has recently been named the 2007/08 UK University of the Year by the Times Higher Education Supplement. This prestigious award is open to all of the UK’s universities and confirms the high quality of the teaching and research carried out at Exeter. Whether you plan to study on an English language, Foundation, Diploma* or Graduate Diploma* course, our aim is to make the transition from home to university study as smooth as possible. Our current international students are certainly happy with their experience – a survey of international students in the UK rated Exeter as ‘the best place to be’ in spring 2006. The University also has one of the lowest student dropout rates in the UK, as well as one of the highest proportions of graduates achieving first class and upper second degrees.
We are ranked fourth in the UK, amongst mainstream universities, for student satisfaction. 10 of the subjects taught at the University are top in their respective fields. They are Business, Management, Finance, Accounting, Mechanically-based Engineering, Archaeology, Classics, German, Physics and Sports Science. A further five subjects are in the top three – English, Drama, Economics, Maths & Statistics and Psychology.
Our students tell us that the University is large enough to provide excellent study, sporting and social facilities – but not so big that you’re just a ‘face in the crowd’. As an INTO University of Exeter student you will live and study in our Streatham campus, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful in the UK. INTO students benefit from dedicated language and support facilities and enjoy access to our library, sport and social facilities. Exeter’s safe and student-friendly city centre with its shops and social facilities is just a five-minute bus or 15 minute walk away and the city is surrounded by beautiful countryside.
We look forward to welcoming you to Exeter."
