Applying for your visa
Upon receiving your offer of a place at INTO University of Exeter and paying your deposit, the next step will be to apply for a student visa. Not all international students will need a student visa. This will depend on your nationality or country of residence, and how long you will be staying in the UK.You can visit the UK visas website to find out if you need a visa, while the visa4ukwebsite allows you to apply online. For detailed and up-to-date information, you should contact the British Embassy in your home country.
If you do need a visa, the application procedure can be time consuming. You will need to submit your visa application well in advance of when you intend to travel to the UK to start your course.
Immigration
When you arrive in the UK you will need to pass through immigration control. You should have your passport, visa (if required), air tickets, confirmation and accommodation documents from INTO Newcastle University ready to show to the immigration officer. You should also be prepared to answer some questions about yourself, and you must be clear about where you are going in the UK, which course you are studying and how long you will be at the INTO Centre. As long as all of your documents are in order, you should pass through immigration smoothly and enter the UK.
If on entering the UK your visa is stamped with the words "Register with UK police on arrival" this must be done shortly after arrival. The INTO Student Services team will help you with this during the orientation programme.
