Our support

24-hour support

INTO is dedicated to ensuring that you feel totally safe and supported. Upon arrival all INTO University of Exeter students are issued with an emergency telephone number which can be used to ask for assistance from INTO staff at any time of the day or night.

Within the University residences, there are residential tutors who are responsible for the pastoral care of the students living in residential accommodation and who provide an additional source of 24-hour support.

Student services team

All the help and support you will ever need is available right at the heart of the University campus. The INTO student services team will help with any non-academic issues, ranging from registering with the police and medical services through to setting up a bank account, leaving you free to focus on your studies and enjoy university life. Personal tutors will guide you in the development of a study plan that will help you to manage your studies and progress.

Language advisers

There are language advisers in the centre who speak a wide range of languages including Chinese and Arabic. They are available to help new and prospective students and parents who may not be able to communicate effectively in English.

Guardianship

Any student under the age of 18 who is coming to study in the UK must have a UK-based guardian. As part of INTO care, INTO will make and provide the following arrangements for students who are under 18 on the start date of their course. All students who are under 18 when they commence their INTO course must live in INTO residential accommodation or with a UK Guardian nominated by the parents. INTO will provide free of charge a basic Guardianship service, this service includes:

  • a nominated member of staff who will act as a Guardian for the student and act 'in loco parentis' (on behalf of the parent) for the student in certain circumstances. The circumstances in which we may need to act in loco parentis include, for instance, any dealings the student may have with the police, or in the case of a medical emergency when the student might not be able to make the decision him/herself;
  • 24 hour emergency phone number and assistance;
  • if a student is unable to go home during the holidays, for an additional charge we will arrange homestay accommodation.

A full information pack regarding the above will be sent with the confirmation documents.
