Teaching methods

At the University of Exeter students study and learn with the experts – with those who write the books and create the knowledge, not just those who read other people’s books. This means that our students benefit from access to the latest thinking, equipment and resources. Exeter is among the top universities in the UK for student satisfaction and has maintained its top ten position for three years running. In 2007, the University came 7th in the UK and 4th amongst mainstream universities, just behind St Andrews, Oxford and Birkbeck College, London.* Results by subject show that 23 of our subjects are in the top ten nationally for ‘Overall Satisfaction’ with our Archaeology, Management, Accounting, Finance and Sports Science students being the most satisfied in the UK.**

The University is also ranked in the top ten for learning resources and has one of the lowest student dropout rates in the country and one of the highest proportions of students receiving first class and upper second class degrees. These excellent results are further proof of Exeter’s commitment to high quality teaching in a research-rich environment – all subjects assessed by the QAA since 1996 have scored top marks for student support and guidance.
