Course aims

  • To offer international students the opportunity to study at a UK university in order to improve their English and to study academic subjects at university level;
  • to provide a highly flexible, personalised course that meets the needs of students who wish to spend a year abroad as part of their university studies and to offer them practical experience of UK university teaching and study methods;
  • to enable students to experience the demands, challenges and expectations of specialist academic study within the UK higher education system and culture.

Course outcomes

  • Progression onto further study on an academic programme at INTO University of Exeter (e.g. Foundation, Diploma or Graduate Diploma) assuming students meet the entry requirements;
  • further study of English on one of the INTO University of Exeter’s English courses;
  • progression onto further study at the University of Exeter or other UK universities or colleges providing students meet the entry requirements;
  • achievement of academic credit towards their undergraduate degree programme in their home country (subject to home university approval);
  • improvement in career prospects by achieving the level of English proficiency required for modern international communication and employment;
  • personal development through the opportunity to live and study abroad and to improve their standard of English.
