Course content

Academic English and study skills modules
The majority of class hours focus on activities to develop academic English and study skills appropriate for postgraduate students including:
• planning and writing academic reports, essays and case studies;
• taking part in, or leading group discussions in seminars;
• researching and writing a major project;
• delivering group and individual presentations;
• learning specialist vocabulary;
• listening and note taking from authentic lectures;
• academic reading and critical analysis of text;
• using the library and online resources.

All students will be internally assessed to ensure they have reached the appropriate level for their degree study.

Core language module
Language development accounts for five hours per week and focuses on improving:
• grammar;
• vocabulary;
• pronunciation.
